Stabaek Advances, Leaves Mix on the Bench

After starting the away leg of Stabaek’s second qualifying round matchup with Tirana, hopes were high that we would see U.S. u-20 Mikkel Diskerud get significant minutes in the home leg.  But two early goals by Segerstrom, a 3-0 halftime lead, a 4-0 lead with 35 minutes to play, and a one-man advantage for the last 16 minutes all conspired to keep Mix on the bench.

On the bright side, Stabaek’s got great momentum heading into the third round of Champions League qualifying.  And that can’t hurt heading into a matchup that Yanks Abroad expects to pit them against FC Copenhagen.
