About
The Site:
Founded in 2009, US Soccer by the Numbers is a web site authored by and for U.S. supporters who are interested in the statistics associated with the U.S. teams. It is an unofficial site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way related to the U.S. Soccer Federation (which refers to itself as “U.S. Soccer”).
The Primary Author:
Michael Blauvelt studied journalism and economics in college and had gone almost 10 years without using either degree until the summer of 2009. Ater noticing the U.S. team getting penalized very harshly in the 2009 Confederations Cup, he started researching whether any team in the history of international soccer had been penalized so severely and consistently. When the fruits of that research became too big to fit into the comments of his favorite soccer blog, he started this site. In addition to US Soccer by the Numbers, Michael recently began writing for The USA 10 Kit.
Michael serves in the U.S. Air Force. The views and opinions expressed on this site are the personal views and opinions of their author. They do not necessarily reflect those of the Department of Defense or the US Air Force.
The Statistics:
Although we sometimes compile our own, most of the statistics used on this site are taken from other sources and organized in new ways. Credit is always given to the original collector of the data: where possible we link directly to the data set, but often we simply acknowledge the collector. We expect that the same courtesy will be given to our work when it is used by others.
We make every effort to provide accurate information, but we are a small operation and generally rely on the work (and accuracy) of others. As a result, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information and your use of any information on this site is at your own risk. If you believe that any of our statistics is incorrect, please let us know and provide whatever information you can to help us correct it.
